![]() When you looked up the Buren serial number in the Hamilton list, what it told you was that a Hamilton watch with the same serial number as your Buren was a Hamilton grade 974P. You would have to look it up in a list of Buren serial numbers, and I doubt that such a list exists, at least to my knowledge. You looked up the Buren serial number in a Hamilton list or data base, but that wouldn't work for the simple reason that your watch isn't a Hamilton. In 1966 Hamilton bought the Buren Watch Company of Switzerland, but that was long after your father's watch was likely made. There was eventually a connection, but it didn't happen until many years later. ![]() In your research you might have come across a connection between Hamilton and Buren. There was no connection between the Hamilton Imperial and your Imperial made by Buren in Switzerland. They were larger (18-size) than your watch, they were made in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, and they were made between 19. Yes, Hamilton did make watches labeled "Imperial" but it was a private label for a seller in Canada. At least you do have his (and perhaps your grandfather's) watch as a remembrance.Īs for the watch, your research has turned up a number of facts that, on their own are at least partially correct, but when combined do not tell the true story. First, please accept my condolences on your loss of your father.
